First off, let me say I'm not affiliated with either company, though I wish I was, maybe I'd get free stuff, lol. Anyway, here's my story.
The day after I got my iPhone 4, I went to the mall and got my iPhone 4 covered in a full body Clear-Coat shield at the kiosk (I suck at putting these things on). I was extremely happy, it looked flawless, and pretty much clear as day. The person at the kiosk did an amazing job. I had bought a cheap version of the Apple Bumber at an AT&T kiosk prior to my iPhone purchase, so with the clear-coat and bumper, I felt relatively protected.
Also, I must state, I am extremely careful with my iPhone. I've had the original iPhone, the iPhone 3G, and now the iPhone 4. I have never, ever, ever, dropped my phones, scratched my screen, etc. I've traded in/sold my other iPhones, and they looked pretty much spotless, almost brand new. Mainly because I always had screen protectors and cases on my iPhones. So this is why I was upset with Clear-Coat. After two weeks, I noticed scratches on my screen. Luckily, they were on the Clear-Coat and not the actual screen. Like I said, I am so careful with my iPhones it's ridiculous. So how did these scratches happen ?
I keep my phone in a case, as well as a hip holster. So I have no idea how this happened. I brought it back, and they put a new one on. Needless to say, a couple days later, more scratches on the screen. So I finally took it off, didn't even go back. Oddly enough, the back screen protector has NEVER gotten any scratches on it.
Now on to Invisbleshield. I had one on my iPhone 3G, and it never, ever got scratches on it, I know people have a love/hate relationship with Invisibleshield, the whole orange peel effect (I never really noticed it), high cost, etc. But this thing stays the same, I never noticed any wear and tear, it's pretty much indestructible. Clear-Coat is supposed to be basically the same exact thing. Well guess what, it's not. I have since had an Invisibleshield front screen installed on my iPhone 4, and no scratches whatsoever. One tiny little divet cause by my gf's fingernail, but the Invisibleshield it perfect. Also shows less finger prints.
So on the whole, I'd go with Invisibleshield from now on. Clear-Coat may look nicer, but I don't think it's as strong.
