I find Stage Manager a considerable improvement on the previous way of multitasking on an iPad, although the ability to quickly switch it on and off is essential.
For example, if I need to work on two apps, once I have them set up in stage manager, sometimes it is just better to switch SM off and have the two side by side the ’old’ way.

Are you aware of a way of quickly turning SM on and off with a keyboard shortcut?

thanks

Not with a Keyboard shortcut, but you can add the toggle to control center, and it's just a swipe down+tap.

Thanks. Mine was there from the start, but I would much prefer just a quick key combinatio.

You might be able to do it by creating a "Shortcut" command to toggle Stage Manager and then activating it with a keyboard shortcut through accessibility / keyboard / allow complete control

I don't have an iPad to try this on, but have you tried asking Siri to turn on Stage Manager?

I looked into it and it doesn't seem to be possible - as there's no Stage Manager action in the Shortcuts app. There is a procedure to do it on macOS, but not on ipadOS.
