I have a 15" Macbook Pro 2.2, Intel 2.16 and 3gb Memory. I am currently running OSX 10.6.7.
When I switch on it all boots up correctly and with the exception of the left arrow key and Firewire (unable to list firewire devices) everything works OK.
My problem is if I hold down the option key at start up to get to the boot menu, i just get a grey screen and nothing else.
If I then power off an back on again it boots normally. I can boot to the superdrive or an external drive by selecting it in the startup manager however.
I have looked everywhere and I can find lots of answers for not being able to boot up, but I can't find any for my specific problem...am I really the only one?

I can get to single user mode and the option key does work (certainly when I'm logged in anyways)

looking for any help one and all
