We had an odd power outage in my building two days ago and since then I've had two problems. One is simply that my poor Mac has to be in safe mode to boot (did all the checks, still won't book normally. It's had some KP's, and I know the RAM cards are dying... that will get fixed... soon).
The other is what's befuddling me. Both the Mac and the Iomega external hard drive are on the battery backup (paper weight), and were on it when the power hit. Yes, they were on. The outage hit in the middle of the night and i didn't wake up in time to turn things off properly before the battery backup did it for me. Fast forward to the next morning. Computer is having its issues... and the Iomega won't start. I'll flip the power switch to ON, and I get the blue light in front to flash once, and then it stays off. It normally, when turned on, stays on. It shouldn't be fried.. that's what that "paper weight" is for. Pretty much everything is on that external... so yes, I'm a little panicky about it.

Any thoughts? Advice? Ways to fix it? Help?
