Iomega Minimax 500GB - replace drive with 2TB?

This is all pretty hypothetical at the moment as I haven't run out of space on the 500GB drive I have at the moment but when I do I would like to replace the drive with something bigger. The reason behind this is because I really like the Minimax enclosure. It has a Firewire hub built in and it looks good next to my white iMac.

My question is - has anyone replaced the drive with something bigger like 1TB, 1.5TB or 2TB? Will the enclosure recognise drives that are bigger than the drive already installed? The connection is SATA. There are 2TB models out at the moment but they might have changed the internals since my model.

I'm willing to bet it would work as is, but to be sure you may want to partition the new drive into 2x 1TB partitions, or 4x 500GB partitions.
