I don't know if you'd save any money by using smaller drives, but it tends to work out better as the capacity is increased. Last I looked anyway.

Most of it is with their enterprise line, but I do have a few Caviar Blacks. It's hard to get past being burned though. I've little faith in Hitachi's consumer models for just that very reason.
