Looking to buy a USB powered portable HDD for my 2.4GHz MacBook narrowed it down to the iomega eGo helium or the WD my passport. Any opinions??

i got an iomega 250gb usb powered drive from radio shack about 3weeks ago works great also has a one year warranty got it for 60 bucks on sale:D

If you're picky about drives, you could get an enclosure and the drive of your choice to DIY your own. ;)

I don't know if you'd save any money by using smaller drives, but it tends to work out better as the capacity is increased. Last I looked anyway. :p

DO NOT GO WITH WD! Worst company ever!
Actually, I've had good luck with WD lately. Most of it is with their enterprise line, but I do have a few Caviar Blacks.

It's hard to get past being burned though. ;) I've little faith in Hitachi's consumer models for just that very reason. :p
