iOS 11 notes features not working on iPhone 6

The ability to create bullets, etc in notes is not working on my friend’s iPhone 6, but it works on my iPhone SE with the update to iOS 11.

Is there a way to get this working for the iPhone 6?

Any help is very much appreciated.
