I've had an issue ever since upgrading to 12.1 where the remote app in the control center refuses to work with my Apple TV 4K. It shows the 4-digit PIN on the screen, and when I enter it, it continually tells me that it's unable to connect -- although, the actual Remote app works 100% perfectly.
I've tried this on multiple iPhone's, and I keep getting the same issue.
Oddly, I also have an issue with my Watch's remote app -- but, that one is able to be "repaired" by entering the PIN that shows on the watch, and entering it on the Apple TV. But, the watch then shows two "copies" of the "Family Room" Apple TV.
Has anyone else experienced this? Any fixes?
