Do third party screens and iOS 12 still not have Auto Brightness and No True Tone on 8 Plus?

Having a problem I’m disputing with my credit card company.

Had a third party screen installed on an 8 Plus. Noticed it had a non functioning ALS on the 2nd night. Went back and forth with the shop owner for a week, and finally called Apple. Shop owner refused to help or replace my old screen until iOS 12 was out. I loaded 12 beta 3 (at the time) and ALS was still broken and True Tone missing.

Went to Apple and properly replaced the screen.

Now disputing the initial charge due to the shop owners aggressiveness. He’s stating iOS 12 has fixed all this, I’m trying to confirm if that’s true as I went Apple.

There is a programmer that allows you to transfer over the ALS info to the replacement screen for devices that are not on iOS 12. If you are on iOS12, the ALS sensor is supposed to work but as far as I know, the True Tone functionality is still disabled.
