iOS 14 is better about letting you know when your iPhone accessories are charged or need charging, and there is a new feature that sends a notification when a connected Apple Watch has finished charging.

The new charged notification is a useful feature for the Apple Watch's Sleep app, which lets users wear the Apple Watch at night for sleep tracking purposes.

The Apple Watch can't be charged while it's worn at night, of course, so after waking up, it will need to be placed on the charger if the battery is getting low. The notification feature will let users pull their Apple Watches off the charger as soon as charging is finished to go about their day.

Apple doesn't list the Apple Watch charging notification feature on its website, but it does highlight one other battery life notification for AirPods. When the AirPods battery begins to run low, iOS users will receive a notification letting them know that it's about time to charge.

There are dozens of other smaller features and tweaks in iOS 14, and we've got a list of everything interesting that we've found so far in our tidbits article.

(Thanks, Chris!)

To those of you who track your sleep, do you do it just because you're interested or do you find you actually seek out improvements to your sleep quality if your results are poor? And what improvements might that be?

Other than using it as some poor excuse to family as to why I feel tired, I can't think of a reason to change my charging habits to use this.

The sleep tracking is very basic, I am hoping a feature of the new watch will be better sleep detail. Now, the part that I really like is the scheduling, by day of the week you can put your schedule in (sleep and wake), then a set time before your bedtime (mine is 30 minute) you can cause things to happen like going into DND, even trigger shortcuts. At bedtime, the watch turns the screen off automatically, so no more putting it in theater mode every night for me.

And yet 5 series later and with 1.5 trillion dollars my watch still wont tell me the battery percentage of my iphone.
It's unbelievable.

It is more of a choice Apple is making, and there are reasons for it, even if we don't like it...

The pre-bedtime routine does seem helpful. Does the iPhone bedtime setting also let you set different bedtime and wake times by day?

Hush :apple:watch, I am sleeping. No need to tell me.

I'd rather you tell me in the morning that you didn't charge because I didn't place you on your puck correctly.

I haven't changed my charging habits. Yes, I use sleep tracking. Why does it have to be one way, or the other?
To answer your reply: Yes. You did.

Yes, alerts for devices charged like Desktop, iPhone, iPad, Watch and Airpods.

You could have just told me it sucked and saved me the trouble of looking at your post history. Happy to learn my suspicions were true.

Doesn’t change the fact that I use my Watch for sleep tracking, and haven't changed my charging habits. AutoSleep is awesome! Nice deflection. You’re post had NOTHING to do with how Apple’s compares to 3rd party apps.
Again...why does it have to be one way, or the other? Also...yes, you did say that.

It has to be one or the other for me. I charge at night. I need to change my charging habits to use sleep tracking.

Their reasons don't seem to be limited by hardware as 3rd party apps that do that have been around since the watch first came out (looking at Power). Same thing with the call screen. It took them this long to arbitrarily change it. It couldn't have been a hardware reason for them putting it off for so long as it was mostly a UI change and the jailbreak community has been successfully doing it for YEARS now.
