I have had some long-standing issues for about two weeks after buying the iphone 14 Pro. I was coming from an Iphone 12 pro and a series 7 watch and hadn't been aware of the bug issues occurring with IOS 16. Issues are in chronological order:

1.) I bought the new phone and tried to move everything over and repairing of the watch- at this time icloud message did not sync fully and the watch was unable to pair

2.) tried the next day to repair the watch with 14P- pair was successful but my most recent two years of messages were erased in the watch and it started from 2019

3.) after many attempts to fix the watch ended up freezing and then apple sent it in and ended up replacing OG series 7 watch

4.) Got new series 7 watch and tried to pair this with the iphone 14 from both backup and from pretending its a new watch- messages still not mirroring the phone

5.)Eventually end up returning the iphone 14P and repair the series 7 with my iphone 12 pro- now iphone 12 pro imessages are weird and everytime I try a reset or backup the imessages is inconsistent and different with the watch.

Mostly what I am trying to see is if anyone else is having syncing issues with the imessage app between devices after updating the software? My icloud storage has not changed, purely what gets pulled from it in regards to imessage is different "information" every time.

Don't take this the wrong way, but you haven't given anybody any useful information in your post whatsoever.

You really do need to be far more specific and maybe some screenshots of settings etc and then hopefully somebody might be able to help.

Thanks for the helpful information, I will re-edit to make it more explanatory. I don't have any pictures at this moment but will see if I can include better detail.

For #2 and #4, the watch only syncs/keeps the last 30 days of messages. Anything older is automatically deleted. If you did indeed have several years worth of messages on your watch before, something was wrong. You should not expect to see your entire conversation history on the watch, only the last 30 days.

Yes, I have just learned that! (would be nice if Apple knew that before I spent 3 hours in the store yesterday) However, it is pulling messages older than 30 days and its varied ones each time- it keeps the amount consistent (like will always download "x" number) but the messages dates, times, and convos are all inconsistent

Turned off Screen Time on my iPhone and iPad because my Mac’s ScreenTime would periodically stop updating until I logged out and back in. Thought a reset of turning off Screen Time on all devices and back on would be good. That was a bad idea, because after turning Screen Time back on, it would periodically stop updating on all 3 devices until rebooted. It’s fine as long as I only enable Screen Time on 2 devices, but once I enable a third and it shows up in the device list Screen Time breaks. I checked the console logs and the error is something is triggering ScreenTime events with no lastUpdateDate which is causing an error.

What’s more annoying is I thought iOS 16 fixed the issue I had in iOS 15 where Screen Time on various devices wouldn’t see one of the other 3. Other than the hanging on the Mac, Screen Time was working fine on my iPhone and iPad. Now all three are broken.

I tried calling Apple Support but that went nowhere when they asked me to wipe and set up as new my iPhone, iPad and Mac. I said no. Then they asked me to sign out of iCloud, which is never a good idea, so also no.

Speaking of iCloud, I toggled Screen Time off and on so many times that it triggered iCloud to respond with 429 (throttled) responses to syncing requests. That wouldn’t be an issue if Screen Time backed off the sync requests like the log said it would, but it ignores them and continues to make requests every 2 seconds. This was causing battery drain as both my iPhone and iPad were constantly trying and failing to sync Screen Time. Not to mention probably doing who knows what to my iCloud account.

I ended up turning Screen Time off completely as it’s not worth the hassle.
