I think this issue may have started with iOS 16.4, and seems to continue with 16.4.1.

I have a 2014 Kia Forte5 SX and connect my phone to the car using it's built in USB port with a lightning cable.

The issues I'm experiencing range from the shuffle options not being picked up, and when I do press next track (or previous track) it does not always switch, the UI on the car stereo seems to stop reacting too, song is playing, but progress indicator does not update.

It does also seem as if the music component on the phone is crashing too, as after some time playback will stop and the car will report an iPod connection error.

Has anyone else experienced these issues, or similar issues? I am going to try another lightning cable, just to rule that out as being the problem. I might try another phone I have, which is on 16.3 and see what happens.

UPDATE:
I tried factory reset of car radio and problem still existed. I've also tried another usb cable and again the problem still persisted. I'm going to try another couple of phones I have, one is on 16.3.1, and the other is on 16.4.1.

UPDATE 2:
I've been seeing the issue on both my car and an 2013 Acura ILX. The workaround I've been using is to ensure the Music app is running on my phone, and starting playback, then connecting the phone to the USB cable in the car.
When doing this I have not yet seen the issue whereby playback just stops.

Im hoping 16.5 might address the issue, and it did work fine before 16.4.

I'd suggest the issue is with the car. My car is the same year and I have similar issues at times. Maybe the head unit needs a firmware update.
