Hi,

Anyone else use live-streaming apps to WATCH livestreams and you notice the device gets really hot? This impacts battery health negativly.

The explanation is that the CPU/GPU needs to en/decode video, hence it gets hot. Sometimes I notice live-streaming apps still function properly without getting hot and nobody could tell me why (yes I tried 5G/WiFi and standing next to the router).

However since iOS 16.4 it has never happend anymore and I am using the same live-streaming apps without the heat generated.

Anyone experience the same? What has changed resulting in this positive experience?

Yes, iPhone and iPad would experience extreme heat while using Picture-in-Picture with the YouTube and Twitch apps.

With iOS 16.4, the overheating is gone for me.

That is interesting, I wonder if this is the same for CarPlay. It got very hot in my pocket over wireless CarPlay.

Awesome. 90% it would always heat up, some rare occasions it would not. So I am confident it is possible, now with this release its gone. Very positive!

Ironically, the only over heating I got on my iPhone 14 Pro was when viewing this forum for a while using Tapatalk! But I think I feel it getting warmer as I'm typing this.
