I used to use this every day, it played NPR and more recently would offer a few other options on first request on a device.

But after updating to iOS 16 I get the error: “Sorry, you don't have any unplayed episodes of NPR News Now.”

Then if you go to the actual podcast, (which I never had to visit previously), there are newer episodes. Except they have advertisements on them now.

Anyone else notice this change?

I figured out if you say "Hey Siri, Play the latest episode of NPR News Now" then she does it. Shouldn't have to be that way, but it seems that when you simply ask her to tell you the news, she checks to see if you've already heard today's news and something is wrong with that causing it to think you've already heard it and therefore don't need to hear it again which is insane because I just asked so I clearly WANT to hear it--whether its the first or second time! ;P

Hey thanks, for this useful workaround.

It has to be a bug.

I would occasionally have this issue from HomePods before iOS 16, but now I have the issue on my phone consistently.

The work around mentioned above doesn’t work for me for some reason. It doesn’t matter which news source, nor if I subscribe already to the podcast, nor if I have unplayed episodes or not.

Frustrating. And I’ve seen others have had this issue long before iOS 16.
