I just noticed a Photos app bug in the info area of the image (when you swipe up):

Photos app in iOS 18.4 / iPadOS 18.4 (on my iPhone 16 Pro and on my iPad Pro) are missing the map that’s usually shown along with a precise location. Luckily, images do list a broader location description at the top of the screen.

Is this a widespread issue?

Got the same issue with my iPhone 16 pro max and my iPad pro, any one have a solution for this issue
I haven’t faced this issue on my iPhone 16, but if your photo locations aren’t showing, here are some quick fixes. First, make sure Location Services are turned on by going to Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services, and set the Camera app to While Using the App. Next, check your date and time settings under Settings > General > Date & Time. Turn on Set Automatically to avoid any time-related issues. If that doesn’t help, try resetting location settings by going to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Location & Privacy. Sometimes, the issue might be with Apple Maps. To report it, open the photo, swipe up to see the location, tap the address to open it in Maps, tap the info (i) icon, and choose Report an Issue.

Man i’ve fixed it, go to the seting>general>reset>reset all setting
Note that it will fix the issue but u will have to adjust alll settings for all apps and menues on ur phone

Regard

I figured it out - there’s a bug in iOS 18.4 Photos app where if you have “Require Face ID” turned on, Photos will not display either 1) the location map or 2) the names of people in the photos. Come on Apple, please fix this.

Yessss, thats right, if you disable the "require face id" in photos it will show both people and location without even resetting the setting.🫨🫨

The best solution would be for Apple to pull all the AI crap from IOS and fix the bugs. Then, slowly integrate AI back into IOS...but we know they won't do that. My 15+ is still on 17 for this very reason, even though 15+ is not AI capable, some of the issues from AI will still trickle down to my 15+.

If it's tied to Face ID it might actually be a privacy feature more than a bug.
No, that doesn’t logically make sense - The app is blocking me from seeing the location info on my own photos (even though I’ve given the Photos app explicit permission to use location data). Logically, it has to be a bug.

One more addition to this post: if the photo were taken in another app (for example, if you take the photo in the Messages app rather than the camera app), and that app is not set to have location available when using the app (for example, Settings / Location & Privacy / Location Services / Messages and it is not set to "While using the app" - mine is set to "Ask next time or when I share"), then location is not included with the metadata in the photo.
