iOS 26.3 will likely be released to the public later this month, but it appears that Apple is preparing to push out another software update in the interim.

Apple's software engineers have started testing iOS 26.2.1, according to the MacRumors visitor logs, which have been a reliable indicator of upcoming iOS versions. The update will likely be released at some point this week or next week.

iOS 26.2.1 should be a minor update with bug fixes and/or security patches.

iOS 26.3 is expected to follow in late January, with key new features in that update so far including a new iPhone-to-Android transfer tool, Notification Forwarding for third-party smartwatches in the EU, and more.

The best update we could get is news that the software department at Apple has been cleared and all new TALENT has been brought in. Way too many software screwups in recent years

my phone reports it is using 26.2, so why is 26.1 now being released have we reordered the digits for some reason

It's almost like the last 3 years of forced RTO, prompting the most skilled and capable employees to leave for other opportunities where they could continue to WFH wasn't such a sound business strategy after all. 🤔

maybe new management (new design staff and approval chain) would help more, and require less dislocations

I'll believe it when I see it. I'm still waiting for 26.0.2!

On 26.3 dev beta, big mistake jumping on beta 1 as it’s almost been a month between beta 1 and still waiting for beta 2.

I get that betas can cause problems but they’re normally short term when you have a weekly/2 weekly cycle between builds.

Next year I think I’ll wait a week before taking the last build before Xmas. 😂
