To get the beta over-the-air:
  1. Enable Beta Updates (Settings > General > Software Updates > Beta Updates)
  2. Make sure you’re signed into the right Apple Account
  3. Select which beta you’d like to receive (public/developer beta)
  4. Hit "Back" and pull down to refresh
  5. Back up to a computer or to iCloud
  6. Install the beta
If you no longer wish to receive beta updates:
  1. Turn off the Beta Updates (you can also sign out of your Apple Account to reset this setting)
  2. Wait for the next public release or follow the guide below to go back to a release build
Troubleshooting: If the beta doesn’t show up on your phone, try turning on airplane mode, then turning it back off, or restart your device.

How to install using a Mac?
  1. You’ll need the Xcode beta itself or a MobileDevice.pkg somebody extracted from the beta (click with two fingers or control-click), then choose Show Package Contents. Go to Contents/Resources/Packages. - this will work on older Macs that do not support the latest macOS or Xcode betas)
  2. Back up to your Mac or to iCloud in case you need to go back to another version
  3. Hold down Option, then click on ‘Check for Update’/‘Restore iPhone...’ and select the IPSW file you downloaded from the Apple Developer site. Note: You must be connected to the internet to complete the restore.
  4. Enter your iPhone passcode if you’re prompted to do so.
Notes/Tips:
  • Always keep a backup in case you need to restore your phone
  • Restoring wipes your settings and all data on your iPhone
  • You only need to reinstall MobileDevice.pkg if your Mac stops recognizing your iPhone
  • There is no MobileDevice.pkg equivalent to iTunes for PC which would require a new iTunes to support new/beta iOS
  • Upgrading to a newer iPhone? You can update using your Mac before setting up the phone

The bug where icons would turn light during the folder opening animation on the home screen appears to be fixed. However, the bug where the interface loads after exiting an app's storage section persists and is even more noticeable. This needs to be addressed in the final build, as the iPhone seems to be stuttering on the lower half of the screen.

More than likely this is the final build.

Glaring visual-artifact-ellipsis-button issue when using Prefer Cross-Fade Transitions (Accessibility setting under Reduce Motion) somehow made it in...general software quality, and not just Apple's, has truly gone to the dogs

At first I wanted to like 26 and tried to give it a chance but here we are at the 26.2 release candidate and ***** like this is still popping up and it seems like Apple knows not what it's doing 🤷

Hopefully this fixes the CarPlay issues I've been having. When connected, CarPlay reboots by Car Stereo head unit every 45 or so seconds.. Not good!

I've seen you mention this multiple times and I am honestly just curious. Is this happening with a factory radio or after market radio?

Home control icons in the control centre still get reset to blank after a reboot.

All my other minor bugs also aren't fixed, but the one above is the one people will moan about once 26.2 goes live.

Cannot reproduce that one here. I had it in some 26.0 betas but it's been fixed since 26.0 (final) for me and never came back.

Installed on my 17PM.

Had a phone freeze, screen didn’t respond to touch at all after initializing first time and a minute of settings navigation. Had to do a reboot.

Factory Radio in a 2018 Chevy Impala using a relatively new Beats USB-A to USB-C cable to connect an iPhone 16 Pro Max. Having no issues with an iPhone 16e or an iPhone 14 Pro on iOS 26.1 using the same equipment, and I tried my iPhone 16 Pro Max in my wife's car and the CarPlay screen just doesn't show up. Again, no issues with the other 2 iPhones in her care, either.

Did this solve the crackling sound on the speaker when an iPhone 17 Pro Max is connected via ISB for charging?

Was that your experience with the previous betas or the RC? I haven’t been able to test yet.
