iOS 26 Messages Backgrounds, Typing Indicators, and Polls not working

After updating to iOS 26, I’ve noticed that if other people in a thread update the background or send a poll, it doesn’t show on my messages app. I can change the background and they won’t see it either. And typing indicators aren't working. Everything is working find on my Mac running macOS 26 but not on my iPhone. Another friend of mine is experiencing this as well.

Anyone else? Any known fixes? So far I’ve tried restarting the app, restarting my phone, toggling iMessages off/on.

Same for me and my family. Typing indicators work but not background for any of us.

Not sure if this helps but I was able to get it working by deleting the thread. Once I did that it started working but obviously lost all the thread history.

I was able to get it working by turning off iMessages in settings then turning it back on.
