Hey everyone,

With iOS 26 there are obviously a ton of changes — and I’ll skip complaining about how much I actually dislike the new overall experience (even though I really do). It’s not the point — I know it’s here to stay, so I’m just trying to adapt.

That said, there are a couple of practical things I can’t figure out, and they’re honestly a big step backwards for me in terms of convenience:
  1. Search Bar Position – Is there any way at all to move the search bar in the Mail app back from the bottom to the top? It feels completely counterintuitive down there.
  2. Default Delete Action – When I open an email now, I see the new action panel at the bottom (with the reaction icons, etc.). My most common action is Delete, not Archive. In the past, I could delete an email with one tap. Now, the first icon on the bottom left is Archive, and when I tap it, I still have to choose between Archive and Delete.
→ Is there any setting or workaround to make Delete the default one-tap action again?
I’d really appreciate any help or tips — I’ve searched a bit but couldn’t find a clear answer.
