Hey everyone,
With iOS 26 there are obviously a ton of changes — and I’ll skip complaining about how much I actually dislike the new overall experience (even though I really do). It’s not the point — I know it’s here to stay, so I’m just trying to adapt.
That said, there are a couple of practical things I can’t figure out, and they’re honestly a big step backwards for me in terms of convenience:

That said, there are a couple of practical things I can’t figure out, and they’re honestly a big step backwards for me in terms of convenience:
- Search Bar Position – Is there any way at all to move the search bar in the Mail app back from the bottom to the top? It feels completely counterintuitive down there.
- Default Delete Action – When I open an email now, I see the new action panel at the bottom (with the reaction icons, etc.). My most common action is Delete, not Archive. In the past, I could delete an email with one tap. Now, the first icon on the bottom left is Archive, and when I tap it, I still have to choose between Archive and Delete.
→ Is there any setting or workaround to make Delete the default one-tap action again?
