I’m thinking that it will take until iOS 27 before everything is in a very good place again for the iPhone. This has been such a big update from iOS 18 that there are just too many things, little and not so little, to fix for the Devs.

I think iOS 26 is usable/ok, but it’s maybe just going to be one of the lesser years for the basic solidity.

Fair enough, as long as we get back onto solid ground in a year’s time.
 
I am much more optimistic. 26.1 / 26.2 will be fine I reckon. I only have a couple of minor issues with 26.0 if I'm honest.

iOS 27 will have to be reimagined for the foldable, so I wouldn't expect it to be all about optimization and improvement. Ideally, later versions of iOS 26 will do that.
