Just saw it was released. God I hope it fixes the 10 or so annoyances I have with 4.0...love for someone in the know to chime in once they put it through its paces....

UPDATE: Hear are changes I am gleaning so far:

1) Signal bars are longer/bigger
2) Signal strength indicator seems to be updated (now showing less bars where it had shown more previously)
3) Gamecenter is back
4) Modem firmware updated
5) Numeric Keypad added
6) AVRCP Bluetooth controls for full function BT

Death grip, as expected, still causes bar drop and proximity sensor not fixed

I'm installing it on my iPhone right now.

First one to post a mini review (hopefully in the next 10 mins) wins. Macrumors readers usually post these things before engadget, 9to5mac etc

Looks like this release may have the software fix for the antenna per this comment:

So 4.1 will be ANTENNA FIX and more! Otherwise it would be 4.0.1. Good pickup.

Now can someone explain to me the rationale of making the signal bar icon larger?

Perception. When you had one bar before it was so small that you think you had no signal. Being bigger would be perceived as still having a signal. Not saying i have this problem but thats why they said they did it.

they should just send out the little stickers that come on the screen of new cell phones that have the logo on it with 5 full bars!

And by the way im sure everyone knows this :))) but the software "fix" will not solve the antenna problem - again perception - but instead how much it seems to affect your overall signal strength.

I'm pretty sure that would be a hardware problem.

Are you sure? I know you can change the "temperature" on TV sets. But that is between red and blue. Is there nothing that can be done on the software end to adjust the whites? Can't it be calibrated better?

I'll try and be the first person to post a review. Just gotta FIND anything different.

What's the typical delay between the SDK version and the one for us unwashed masses?
