In the most recent beta version of iOS 4.2, we are allowed to choose from a bunch of new SMS tones. They aren't really that great, but at the bottom, it says "None" in a section separated from the rest of the SMS tones. I think that this is going to list the custom SMS tones, which won't be available until a new iTunes is released.

any idea will the proximity sensor red light will go off after 4.2 update? or still stay like 4.1 will light up ? sorry for bad english:cool:

As you probably already realized, "none" means no sms sound will play when a text comes in.

The current 'none' option is part of the list and at the top.

So why did they move it to the bottom? Why did they separate it out into its own list? Will they be changing it before 4.2 is out? If so, to what? And why was it temporarily changed? And if it's not temoporary, why the change to something less user-friendly?

I've got far too many questions for me to be as certain of anything as you seem to be.

Does anyone know where the SMS ringtones are stored in the new OS? I tried the old trick of replacing one of the existing tones with one of my own, but I couldn't locate the proper folder (/Library/Themes). If you have any idea, please let me know.

This OS upgrading and then the jailbreak etc, it's becoming a pain. Setting up your phone all over again is not something I look forward to.
