I work in the basement of a large building about 20 ft under ground. I have never had service at my desk in the basement. It always reads "No Service". I loaded 4.2 GM on my iPhone4 Friday night and got up and went to work on Saturday morning. I texted a friend just before I went into the basement to confirm a meet time later in the day. Not really expecting to get a text back. I get downstairs in my bunker and set my phone on my charger and start working. All of the sudden I am getting texts from that friend and I can send texts! I actually have 1 bar of Edge now at my desk. The only thing that has changed on my phone is 4.2 GM. Anyone else notice this?

Not using AT&T (I'm in a different country), but I think iOS 4.2 is much quicker to update the signal meter. It may be that your phone is able to find the network quicker now and that gives the impression of having a better signal.
