Hey!
Just two quick questions, the first one has probably been asked before:

1) Is the version number of the new iOS version 4.2 or 4.2.1 because my iTunes says that a new update (4.2.1) is available why macrumors says it's only 4.2 .

2) Does this version differ from the 4.2.1 GM version? Because I have the 4.2.1 GM installed (Build 8C148) but iTunes still says there is a new update available...

4.2 and 4.2.1 is the same. I'm not sure why it's called both, but it is that way on the Apple support page, too.

"Note: iOS 4.2.1 is the version number displayed in the iOS user interface and iTunes."

One of the main differences between 4.2 and 4.2.1 is WiFi. Some WiFi bugs on the iPad (and other iDevices, not sure which) running 4.2 GM, so Apple fixed them and released 4.2.1.
