Hi, I'm new to macrumors. I have an iphone 3gs with firmware 4.3.1 not jailbroken, and I was wondering if updating my phone to 4.3.5 changes anything besides the security, or adds anything. I searched the forums and saw that it was 666mb and takes a while to download/install, and also that the battery meter changes?

What are you opinions on updating to 4.3.5?
If you have it, is it faster?
or should I stay with 4.3.1?
Thanks in advance.

Security is important. You should always update to the latest version if you are not concerned with jailbreaking.

4.3.5 is a security fix for certificate validation

but i have noticed i get bad battery life on it as well.

Thanks for the replies.

Another question, does it slow down the phone?

no. mine is fairly fast on 4.3.5. some things get laggy if i do it fast. like deleting apps out of multitasking. but really its pretty decent if it wasnt for the battery life.

So your battery life goes down fast with the new update? Or are you constantly using your phone causing the battery to decrease fast?

should I update? :\

i mean i use it. i use to be able to use my phone for 10 min before it dropped from 100 to 99 but it drops to 98 within 10 min of use. so its not a lot worse but it could be a tad better. but i did download photo vine about the time the battery went downhill so i feel like that is using location service all the time. i have to do a test to see though.
