iOS 4.3 hotspot iPhone to iPad Bluetooth (WiFi off) = low power drain

Although it may be obvious to some, I thought it might be helpful on those long commutes.

Want to extend the battery life on your iPhone 4 to iPad tether. With iOS 4.3 you can hotspot using Bluetooth only between your iPad and iPhone 4 and shutdown the power thirsty WiFi in both devices.

Ya, wifi hotspot is very much unnecessary for me now that the ipad can tether via bluetooth.

Have you done any speed testing between WiFi and BT tethering?

I've not done any speed testing, but it seems just fine for browsing the web. You don't get location services as you would with WiFi.

Interesting.. According to the recent reports - iPad tethered to an iPhone is now able to get GPS location info from the iPhone.. so without WiFi triangulation. I wonder why this doesn't work over Bluetooth.

How much less of a power drain is it to use Bluetooth tethering as opposed to WiFi? Anyone know or seen any info?
