Hi,
Just got a new iPhone 3GS from Apple as a replacement handset. It had a dead pixel on it so I proceeded to update it anyway as its going back tomorrow and I can't be bothered to wait around for them to diagnose the issue and update it. Its stuck just after the apple on the updating (Black background with white apple and progress bar).

Any ideas?

Happened to me when I restored my iPhone 4 for battery issues (Restored from 3Gs backup) it eventually failed then went into recovery mode (showing the "Connect to iTunes" screen). I then ran it again and restore went off quick and without a hitch.

Try that if all fails make a genius appointment.

I've actually made a genius appointment earlier today because its a replacement handset due to a dead pixel and this came yesterday with a dead pixel on it. Now it just won't restore so I'm gonna look silly taking it in for 2 different things :p

Looks like its getting there now, slowly. I've just plugged it into my Macbook and tried that instead and its updating now.
