Anyone tried it? Will the install even work? I don't know how it wouldn't work. I have an iPhone 2G (The EDGE 8GB 2G model) and I would sure like to install iOS 4 and try it out. Just wondering if the install would even work. Anybody who has tried it, let me know.

Thanks

BTW, I know Steve Jobs said in the keynote that iOS 4 will only work on 3G, 3Gs, and iPhone 4 models....he neglected to say anything about iPhone 2G at all!!

He said "We will be offering iOS 4 upgrades for the iPhone 3GS, the iPhone 3G[...]and the iPod touch[...]". I think the implication here, that they are not offering iOS 4 upgrades for any other devices, is pretty obvious ?

iOS 4 will not work on the iPhone. Period.

It is only for iPhone 3G (lacking features), iPhone 3GS and the new iPhone 4.

There isn't a firmware for the iPhone. And there are individual firmwares for the 3G, 3GS and 4.
