When do you guys think the iOS 5 beta will be released?? i was thinking they were going to do it today at the iPad event.. Guess i was wrong about that...

Course it will, i dont understand why some people were believing that iOS 5 would be shown off today. It's going to be April as last year. At least we know what processor will be in iPhone 5 anyway.

Major iOS revisions are typically announced in March or April, accompanied by a beta OS release. I expected it today too, but I guess they will have a separate developer-focused event at a later date.

I now its going to be released officially in the summer.. But the timing just seemed right for the ios 5.0 beta.. I dont recall 4.0 beta coming out in April

iOS 2 and 3 were announced in early March. iOS 4 come around late March, I think. I assume we'll hear about an iOS 5 beta launch/presentation later this month, in the next 2-3 weeks. That would make the most sense.

Actually I'm thinking they'll show it off next month like last year, iOS 4 wasn't shown off in March but in early April, after the iPad was released (which was April 3).

Probably. I expect invitations to the event to go out before April 1, especially since the iPad launch is earlier this year.

I too am surprised ... I thought they would have at least hinted at it ... maybe we won't see it until late summer/fall.

You guys think invitations to 5.0 preview are going out this week?? for an event next week??

Just my opinion, but I think we'll first see iOS 5 at WWDC.

I also think the rumors about a 'fall iPhone 5' could be true.

The new versions of iOS have never been tied to iPad or iPod Touch updates. The new versions of Mac OS have never been tied to new Mac models.

I think the days of a brand-new iOS coming out with a new iPhone will end this year. The iPhone was unique in that regard, there's no reason they have to keep doing it that way.
