Cook announced today that the new iPad supports personal hotspot via 3G cellular if the carrier supports it.

Has anyone already upgraded their iPad 2 to iOS version 5.1 and tested the personal hotspot?

Because this feature was missing so far, I had to jailbreak my iPad 2. ( single most important reason for me to jailbreak the iPad 2)

I think he meant for the new iPad only.... :S

I really do wonder how long the battery life for the hot spot will be when the screen is off!

Could be looking at a long term solution :-o

After upgrading, I could not find where or how to activate it on my iPad2, the personal hotspot was something I was really waiting and hoping for when I read about the feature on the new iPad release event today.

Again, it's only for The New iPad.
