Was just watching the keynote again from WWDC. There is a lot of talk about automatic syncing of images, documents, settings etc.

Those that have been using iOS5 have you noticed that your data usage has increased? As it looks like I'm going to be needing a much larger data plan.

Honestly it is hard to know right now. I have the Beta, but iCloud isn't really fully operational yet and also when we start getting apps that use iCloud for syncing that is where we may really start to see data use.

Even on the beta still really too early to tell on data usage changes

That brings a good point, there should be a "sync over wifi only" on/off feature. Many of us are connected to wifi most places we go so this would be great on limiting data usage.

Syncing to itunes is only over Wifi.

As for icloud syncing, you can turn it completely off or turn it off for just certain apps. if you don't want any icloud, just turn it off.

and actually under settings -> icloud -> documents and data there is an option to turn on and off the use of the cellular network for that syncing.

Photo Stream syncs only over WiFi (no Data used).

Your photos everywhere. In a flash.
Take a photo on an iOS device or import a photo from your digital camera to your computer, and iCloud automatically sends a copy of the photo over any available Wi-Fi network (or Ethernet) to the Photos app on your iOS devices, iPhoto on your Mac, the Pictures Library on your PC, and the Photo Stream album on your Apple TV. So you can show off your shots to friends and family from whichever device you’re using at the time.
