iOS 5 and Mail

I updated to iOS 5 on my iPad 2 and now Mail won't work. I can open the program but it just sits trying to download messages and/or connect. I thought maybe deleting all accounts and re-adding them would fix the problem, but when I go into Settings and try to click on Mail, Contacts, Calendars it locks the screen.

Any ideas how to resolve this?
