I've read the threads for the possible Jailbreak releases in the next few weeks for iOS 5 for the iPhone 4S and A5 chip. However will these Jailbreaks also work for the iPhone 4?

iOS 5 and Untethered Jailbreak for iPhone 4

Yes.
Technically, we could expect an untethered 5.0 JB any day now, as they have the jailbreak down, they just need the untether component. They have claimed to have 5 exploits for the untether, so although it may take a few weeks, it's not like they're waiting on anything - they are working away, I'm sure!
If anything, expect the i4 5.0 untether JB before the i4S.
