disclaimer: hi i'm not sure if this violates the NDA so if it does i'm really sorry someone just tell me and i will take it off. but i dont think it does because its more mobileme than icloud.

anyway, i was setting up icloud in the settings app, turning stuff on, and i turned "mail" on. it told me i needed to make a @me.com email address. so i did, i typed in what i wanted my username to be. it auto-set it up on my iphone mail app. but when i go to me.com and type in my username and password (which it didnt ask me to make a password, just used the same one as my itunes account), it logs me in to findmyiphone, but does not let me go to mail. anyone else have this problem? is this just how it work? we cant get the @me.com email online?

also, i am wondering if there is like an online sign in for icloud or something where i can view files/pictures/music?

What I want to know is when will I be able to register with iCloud using my already existing MobileMe apple ID. I think it's BS that I have to create a new apple id to test out iCloud.

You don't get email with a free acount only find my iphone and iCloud.

Quick you better tell apple! They have it wrong on their site!

When you set up iCloud, you get a free me.com email account. iCloud automatically pushes new email messages to all your devices, so your inbox is up to date everywhere you check it. And iCloud keeps all your folders in sync, no matter which device you’re using.

Believe Apple email applications is down hence you will have to wait till the iCloud launches

Woops, haven't read this yet. Won't be renewing MobileMe next time if that's the case.

mobileme is now terminated. you can still use it, but when the icloud comes out it will take over MM. your subscription is now valid till june 2012.

Excellent *mr. burns hand thingy*. Apple's cloud syncing type services has changed like 3 times in the last decade now...this is finally a change for the better.

I wouldn't say that for certain until it's actually launched.

A lot of us are making use of the current mobile me services, and are wondering what's going to happen to iDisk, galleries, bookmark syncing and Back to My Mac, all of which are really useful.

Is it going to be possible to set up multiple iCloud email addresses with one Apple ID account. From what I have experienced so far you can only register one email address. Which by the way i misspelt and cannot edit.

If this is the case I have a problem as me and my wife share the same Apple ID account

I also set up my iCloud email, which interestingly enough, is tied to my Gmail account. Anyway, I sent an email from my iCloud account to my Gmail account, then to a couple of email accounts, and it all went, albeit as slow as molasses in the wintertime. Other than that, it's pretty nice to have yet another email address  I'll never get away from the Internet people now :D

you can only use it on the iphone/ipad right now. since icloud isnt 100% functional yet. once lion comes out, we might be able to use our new @me.com.

I was also just prompted to create a @me.com account when I turned iCloud mail on. However, I went in the iOS Mail app and there it was. I can even send and receive email with the new @me.com address I just created. Not sure how to access it via a browser though.

Also tried to set it up in the Mail app in Snow Leopard. It doesn't seem to authenticate. Apparently iCloud is using a different server or something for mail other than mail.me.com.

I can also confirm that I can send and receive emails through the @me.com account set up through the phone. However, the email feature isn't activated on mobileme.com, just the findmyiphone feature

mine's working in outlook fine :)

Wait, where can I setup an iCloud account? I see some of you are "turning on iCloud mail", how so? Where are these settings?

EDIT: I'm a fool. I need iOS 5 :)

You do realize that iCloud hasn't launched.
When it does, according to apple this will happen.

When you sign up for iCloud, you'll be able to keep your MobileMe email address and move your mail, contacts, calendars, and bookmarks to the new service.

When iCloud becomes available this fall, we will provide more details and instructions on how to make the move. In the meantime, we encourage you to learn more about iCloud.

I used an old mobile me trial account that I signed up for years ago with iOS 5 email for about a week and suddenly the PW authentication failed.

I just created another one a few days ago, worked fine until about 5 minutes ago... PW failed. :/

How are you guys getting the option to create a me.com e-mail address? I go to iCloud from the Mail app, but I don't see an option to create an Apple ID as shown in the screenshots shown on the web.

when you go into iCloud in the settings menu and turn Mail on, it will ask you to set up a me.com address, thats when it happens.

i created a account this way, but what is my password and whats the settings for my mail.app to use this account?

If you made one there, then it's automatically populated to the maill.app on the device. when setting up again, you just go into iCloud enter your apple ID and turn mail on and it automatically sets up the mail account, it's automatcially done it for me on beta 1 and 2 fine. Also iCloud control panel for windows has set up iCloud in my Outlook
