For those who are already working with iOS 5... Is it possible to use 2 different Apple IDs on the device - one for iTunes/App Store purchases and another for backups, synchronization, iMessage, etc?

For example... My wife and I both have iPhones and utilize one iTunes account for our music, videos, apps, etc. However we clearly want our devices to be individualized (not using a shared identity).

Thanks for any insights!

Yes. You can have a shared Store ID for music and app purchases. The Store ID is used for pushing apps, books, music to your device when purchases are made on other devices that use that Store ID. You can then have a personal iCloud ID -- different from your Store ID -- to handle contact, calendar, bookmark, etc syncing across your own devices. If you have a MobileMe ID you can still use it as in iOS 4 (until June next year) but eventually MobileMe IDs will be migrated to iCloud.

Bottom line: Your Store ID, iCloud ID and MobileMe ID need not be identical.
