Before I say what I'm about to say, YES I know this is still BETA but I'd like to know why this happens?

I've certain apps that either did not work in iOS 5 or only functioned partially.

I've tried running the apps in each BETA release and found right up to BETA 3 they still had issues but BETA 4 fixed the problems and all was Great !!! But then Beta 5 comes out and the issues in the apps come back???

Why do you think this happens?

Kinda obvious. The apps will be updated by the developers when ios 5 is finally released. It's pointless to be concerned now.

Yeah I know what your saying :) but to have an app that didn't work in an early beta then have it working in a newer beta and back to not working in the latest :)

My personal opinion is that there are branches of the code and each beta doesn't mean that it gets better as a whole. It depends on what they include a specific beta. (Fix what was identified in Beta 3 while Beta 4 is out.) But like in most cases in my life, I'm probably wrong.

iOS5 is backward compatible with iOS4 and the majority of apps should work fine. However, some rare API functions will be changed and all the apps that use them will have to be recompiled with new SDK. Also, if an app had lousy code to manage the memory allocations, it will crash on iOS5.
