so, I have had problems connecting to wifi with my iPhone 5 anywhere except when sitting near my router since 6.0.2 and I kinda hoped they'll solve it with 6.1, well...
I can't connect to wifi no more, the mighty "Unable to join network" dialog everywhere
I tried to reset network setting, but that did not help, will try restore, but I'm not putting any hope there

That's the problem with your router, my friend has one too, whenever I want to connect to it I can't, well not the first time and it never auto-connects. I had this thing since iOS 4.

but I can't connect to any wifi, my old 3Gs connects without a problem

I'd try a network settings reset before a restore and resetting the router aswell.

so I restored network settings
I restarted router
I restored back to 6.0.2
and it won't connect anymore
looks like i'm having a nice trip to Dresden to see their apple store...

These things happen ... the WiFi radio could just be fried. You're under warranty though!

You can call Apple and see if you can be sent a replacement if the drive is too far.

That said, if the DFU restore doesn't fix it, can other devices connect to it?

If they can, then it's likely not the router but your iPhone 5.
