Is the iOS 6 update mandatory? I just learned that it was released today and when I go to update. I find that it's already downloading. I never pressed download. Did this happen to anyone else? What if I didn't want to update?

It will download and store it on your device. You should be able to install whenever you want to.
Ok good, I was worried there for a second. But it still kind of makes me a little mad it downloaded with out my consent. That takes up space on my phone. Does it not? I don't care if it's from apple. It should of asked me first. I know I should a little crazy right now. But it's my phone.
