Searched around for some info on this but haven't come up with a fix yet. Im guessing the problem might stem from the fact Japanese carriers use email addresses instead of the phone number for SMS but can't be sure.

Anyway, the problem is, in the SMS app, I can't send messages directly to anyone who is not using iMessage. I just get a message undelivered error.

If someone sends me an SMS, I can reply to that BUT the SMS app automatically turns their SMS into a group conversation with my own address included as an extra contact. This means when I reply, I get an extra (unwanted) copy of my outgoing message bounced back to me immediately.

Anyone else experiencing this after an update to 6.1? Or even better yet, anyone found a solution. Someone suggested double checking the SMS email address in Settings but that hasn't helped.

Everything is normal here! BTW I think you are talking about MMS! SMS uses the pone number like other countries!
