I'm currently without power due to Hurricane Sandy hitting NJ pretty hard. My cell phone is my primary means of keeping in touch with the world. I've managed to locate a wifi hotspot nearby, possibly from a neighbor's house, and I'm having problems getting my wifi going.

I have the iOS 6.0 update for my iPhone 4S, which has started to be glitchy with Wifi.

Since there are trees down near me, going to a local Apple store isn't an option - I don't even know if they're open since there are over a million people without power here.

I've tried the technique of putting my iPhone in my freezer, then restarting it, and it works for a few minutes, which is how I'm trying to get this message out to you before my phone reverts to the 1xRTT "circle of death" data speed on Sprint (CDMA). 3G Service has been nonexistent since the storm, which I found out via local news is because all the cell towers nearby are running off of emergency generator power, so soon my cell will be useless because of the storm damage.

I've also tried resetting network settings and setting the wifi proxy to Auto. Anything else to suggest? Please help! My landline is down and the only way I'm able to talk to family/friends/work is via my cell phone, which is currently staying charged with a AA battery charger and an arsenal of AA alkaline batteries (and a car charger, but I can't leave my house because a tree and power lines are down at the end of my driveway)

Thank you!
