I feel like iOS 7.0.4 is much smoother than the first public release. I think performance has gradually been increased quite a lot since September. The difference is small but noticable, multitasking framerate seems more stable for instance. Does anyone else feel the same or is it just one of those self fulfilling prophecies getting into my head?

I feel the same, but, like you, am not sure whether it's actually smoother or just my wishful thinking.

I thought I noticed an improvement in 7.0.3 but I am also not sure if I simply imagined it. I have not noticed any more smoothness in 7.0.4.

I think it's smoother with improved memory management. I use a very memory intensive astronomy app that would crash due to low memory. This was repeatable and I could make it happen within minutes of using the app since updating to IOS7. With 7.0.4 it doesn't crash, just slows down a bit then keeps on going.
