iOS 7.1.2 "Update Requested"?

I have an iPhone 5c and I'm given a message when I try to install iOS 7.1.2 saying: "Your software update request has been received...." What does this mean?

Basically, the update is downloading in the background. You will be notified once it is done downloading, then presented with the option to either install now or later.

update sent my phone into a endless resets and now it's sitting in DFU mode. sigh
