iOS 7.1 battery indicator color

The battery indicator is still green on iPad 3 with iOS 7.1. Yet on my iPhone 5S, it is black. Is there any way to make my iPhone battery indicator green?

It's green when charging, black when not. Been that way for all devices since the introduction of iOS 7.

Yup, green when plugged in (charging or not), white or black (depending on the background I guess) when between 100% and 20% and not plugged in, and red when 20% or below.

Duh, operator error! Why didn't I remember charging vs not charging?

I will say green is hard to read in bright light...
