Opinion topic, but before yesterday's announcements I was sure that Apple wanted to slowly merge and blur the line between iOS and OSX. Now it would seem that the two are more different now then they have even been from a design perspective.

For example does OSX Mavricks still feature linen on the notifications menu?

My guess is that changing the two would be near impossible. They are already having a lot of problems with getting iOS 7 ready for launch as it is.

Also, with OS X on 10.9 they may be considering that kind of change worth doing for the "11" release of their OS.
