I have an iPhone 4s and after installing iOS 7, on the right side of the contacts page, instead of getting the full alphabet (for finding the contact by letter) I get a few letters with bullet points in between. Another poster said he gets the full alphabet. Now I'm wondering if this only happens with the iPhone 4s or if something is corrupted on my phone, or perhaps a setting to change it.

Anyway, this is what I'm talking about. Take a look at the right side:

on my iphone 5 I get the full alphabet. Wonder if its a 4S thing only.

Thanks Armen. Maybe somebody else with a 4s will chime in. Or maybe it's some silly setting. I'd hate to think that Apple would eliminate something like this that existed in iOS 6.

I just checked a co-worker's iphone 4S running iOS 7. It's the same way on his as well. The 3.5" screen real estate may have forced Apple to go to bullets.

Thanks Armen! I wonder why...the 4s had the entire alphabet under iOS 6 (and prior) and I believe the font was even larger. It's a little trickier to use now and not as precise. Oh well.

What happens if you try making the font smaller?

The font for your actual contacts, not the alphabet.

Same thing with my iphone 4. iPhone 5 and 5S have full alphabet. Either this is change in design/bug.

iOS 6 on 3.5" displays had the full alphabet but it looked cramped and messy with ab and c being in the top banner.

I think it has something to do with the search always showing now since iOS 6. The search bar lessens the screen real estate available.

in IOS6 full alphabet was ok and nice.
now in IOS7 most letters are missing in 4s.
WTF apple?????
replace the dots with letters is a better idea than have dots between letters.

Try it landscape and you lose more letters, I'll bet the iphone5 does the same landscape.

It's only an indicator bar, if you need help working out what's in between then you probably shouldn't be using an iphone.

who is searching contacts in landscape mode? anybody please????????
i am using iphone from the the first 2g and i am happy with ios,
but
it just sucks having used to things that makes your work better and now missing.
4s screen is same (didnt get smaller!!!) so not to there is space to fit letters like it was before.

the point is that are missing letters that main contacts of mine start with.
also i have my telephone menu and contacts in english but i am not english.
so yes i count the alphabet to see where the letter is.

ios7 is simplier and fancier with small thin letters like lice.
just give me a good reason why now the letters does not fit in the screen like ios6 in 4s or 4

Apple do what they want and dont care what's best for the user. They think your needs are unimportant. That's my take on the reason. There is no good reason, just bad reasons.
