I have a iPhone 4s with iOS 7.1.2

This phone was never been reset / restored since it's purchase, meaning it came with iOS 5, upgraded to iOS 6 and then to iOS 7

I really don't want to upgrade to iOS 8 since it will be too slow (reading all the reviews)

I want to restore the Phone to factory settings. How can do this?
Will I be able to restore using ios 7.1.2 IPSW with iTunes?

Also would I be able to clear the "Others" Space in the phone without restoring from iTunes?

thanks

iOS 7: How can I reset to factory settings?

Currently, you can only restore to 8.1.1. If you are not jailbreaked, just erase all data and settings.
