- iPhone 4, 4S, 5 or later. (A1349, A1332, A1387, A1428 and A1429).

- iPad 2, iPad Retina or later, and all iPad Mini devices (A1395, A1396, A1397, A1416, A1430, A1403, A1458, A1459, A1432, A1454, A1455, and A1460).

- iPod Touch 5th generation devices (A1421)

Panorama format – iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, and 5th generation iPod touch
Square, video formats and swipe to capture – iPhone 4 or later, 3rd generation iPad or later, iPad mini, and iPod touch
Filters in Camera App – iPhone 5 and iPod touch
Filters in Photos App – iPhone 4 or later, 3rd generation iPad or later, iPad mini, and iPod touch
AirDrop is available on iPhone 5, 4th generation iPad, iPad mini, and iPod touch
Siri is available on iPhone 4S/5, iPad with Retina display, iPad mini, and iPod touch

How come the filters in Camera App works for the iPod Touch but not the 4S? Can't think of anything that the iPod has that the 4S doesn't?

I'm curious about this too.
They release ios7 for the iPad 2 and later, and then limit Airdrop to only the 4th generation iPad.

I've only had my iPad 3 for one year, and it is already becoming obsolete for software features. I would like to know why. I could understand the iPad 2 being overlooked for Airdrop, but leaving out the iPad 3 is really upsetting.

There needs to be an answer for this.
 
4th gen iPad, iPhone 5, iPod Touch 5 and iPad mini are the only devices that support Airdrop due to the new wifi chip.

No ipad 2, 3, iphone 4 or iPhone 4s.
 
Does it work for iphone5 for sprint ?

I have sprint iphon5, can i download ios7 and install ? i dont think my phone has similer Model #.

An A6 chip, more memory, and a larger screen? :p

It works on the iPhone 5 (and future models), iPod touch 5 (and future models), iPad 4 and iPad mini (and future models of course)

It's due to the hardware. AirDrop uses a combination of Bluetooth and WiFi protocols, into something similar to Wi-Fi Direct. It's possible the new chip supports WiFi Direct, or it's a connection established through Bluetooth then files are shared through 802.11ac.
 
Chances are that 60fps video recording is iPhone 5/iPad 4 only.

Probably cause the 4 is just dated.

Yes, dual spacial stream wifi chip/antenna. One can maintain primary AP connection, the other can connect to friends.

Just a guess.
