Hi,

Just updated my Air to 8.1 and Safari now seems to hold 11 tabs without reloading.

What's your experience?

Just tested it with my iPad 4 and I got to around 10 tabs of varying content before they started to refresh. Just some, not all. This won't be apples to apples to everyone as it depends on the pages open. 10 tabs of the Google homepage would request much less memory than 10 tabs worth of Facebook

Will need to use it in real world testing before making any judgements.

There is zero difference in tab reloading from 8.0 to 8.1. Just let it die, already. ALL iPads have an issue with tab reloading. Maybe iPad Air 2 will fix this if it has 2GB. Maybe it won't.

But 8.1 does not fix this.

It does, i can hold 12 tabs without reload on my Air.

----------

Mine hold about 50 without reloading

All on the power of 1GB RAM!!!!!!!
Are you being sarcastic. On my air you can only open 35 tabs.

Big difference. Could only have 2 or 3 open before on my rmini. Now I had six and no refresh (didn't see how many I could go up to). Issue was never ram but software.

There is a change from 8.0 to the way Safari handles tab reloads, but it absolutely does reload (I've been using all the 8.1 betas). 12 tabs isn't possible. Continue to use your iPad Air and you'll see. After a fresh OS update everything runs smoother.. for a bit. And then it won't anymore as you open apps etc.

See what you mean. I can still manage around 5 though

Yep, sarcasm. Another apologist attempting to make the ignorant point that 2 gigs isn't needed.

6 is as far as I got as well on my Rmini without refresh.

That works for me, I do not usually have more than three when I browse but I wanted to see how far I could get on 8.1.

I loaded 8 up with no issues. I suppose I could have loaded more without a problem too.
