How is the battery life on iOS 8.4 beta compared to the pain in the ass I call 8.3? I'm tried to rollback to 8.2 but it wouldn't restore my backup since i made the backup on 8.3 apparently. I'm thinking about installing 8.4 in hopes of better battery life and being able to have location services turned on and not go down to 20% in an hour

It's beta, don't expect any miracles. The battery is probably on par with what 8.3 battery life is.

Sounds like you should try a restore as new without putting on a backup to see if that changes things for you. 8.3 doesn't seem to have some sort of a general/widespread battery problem for most.

thanks

Well, I would but kinda need all my stuff like it is but I restored it last night so gonna see how it goes over the next couple days. I'm just hoping it will level out one way or another before I travel to Europe next month lol If AT&T will unlock me that is

Battery issues

Running iOS 8.4 beta 1 on my iPhone 6 and experiencing noticeable battery life problems compared to previous releases.
Normally I would get through a whole day with about 10-15% remaining by 11pm. On this beta, I'm down to 10% by 7pm. So, considerable battery life decrease.

Reported it via the feedback app, and hopefully we'll see a fix soon.

I'm on the 8.4 public beta 1..definitely noticing a significant decrease in battery life (using Apple Watch as well, but is towards the bottom of the list in battery usage).

8.4 public beta, no real change in battery life. Depends if I'm working or at home. At home, I usually have between 25% and 35% left at the end of the day. (10PM) If working, since I fly in helicopters, battery life sucks! I have to recharge by noon, 1PM at the latest. Of course this is because the phone is constantly looking for towers while we're in flight.

New in iOS 9.. helicopter mode!

Yes. I noticed it the first time I installed it. Then waited for it to go down to 1 percent and charded until 100%. It seems it's stable since then with maybe half an hour less than 8.3. I don't know if there were background processes being updated or something.

don't be so quick to blame battery life on the software. battery life decreasing over time is inevitable, so of course when people notice that they're not getting a full 8 hours on a single charge the first thing they blame is the last update they just installed

...but if the battery becomes noticeably lessened immediately after installing an update...

absolutely stunning

still the same results today, its brilliant.

ive went back to 8.3 as well, it dropped back to 8.3 results, this isnt a fluke. 8.3 was noticeably better over 8.2, then 8.4 is substantially better than 8.3. those screenshots were 95% on wifi, iphone 6 is rated up to 11hrs on wifi, my iphone 6 is also a launch day one so its got a little battery wear & its still that good.

put it on airplane mode - no pun intended haha
should save that battery since it's not like you're getting signal anyways

With iOS 8.4 beta 2 , i'm having the best battery life so far on my iPhone 6!

I'm using a 6, and have used all the 8.x versions of iOS (including 8.4 beta) and none of them have affected the battery life in any noticeable way.

Actually, I do get a signal. We're only flying 1000 to 1500 feet above New Jersey, you can't swing a dead cat in this state without hitting a cell tower. And I've had to "text ahead" occasionally for assistance or information from the LZ or receiving.

Now that right there is funny!

Seems slightly improved over iOS 8.3 to me. I've been running both on two iPhone 5Cs for the past week.

I noticed the battery life on my iPhone 6 got a little worse with 8.3. I'm really hopeful 8.4 improves things.
