Hi everyone :)

I recently updated my iPhone 4s to iOS 8.1 and everything has been great so far.

The only annoying thing is that when I pull down the spotlight search I don't get the list of suggestions like I used to on iOS 7 (see screenshot attached).

Is this been removed intentionally by Apple to make things run smoother on old devices or is it bug?

Thank you in advance :)

Sorry for not explaining myself correctly :)

This is what I meant (see screenshot from my wife's iPhone 5c)

Thank you again :)

Yep! Tried to restart but it's still the same... Keep in mind that this is a fresh install of iOS 8.1 followed by an iCloud restore to get my apps, contacts, messages, etc back.

Cheers :)

It's not really any suggestions, just an info screen re: what can be searched. Can't click on anything in that screen other than the more info link.

Once you hit "search" on the keyboard, that acts like an "ok, I get it" button and no longer gives the info/how-to screen.

@NoBoMac

I've tested your theory on my wife's phone, but on hers, the "info" screen is still there every time you do a Spotlight search..,

Cheers :)

Hi there,

Can anyone with an iPhone 4s please confirm if they're experiencing the same issue?

Thank you in advance :)

Cheers

I have a 6 and I don't get that text. I've seen it before though, so maybe it only appears the first few times (and may be part of the backup).

It's supposed to go away, it's just there to tell you how to use it after getting iOS 8.

So, it turns out that my wife's phone is not getting rid of that message after repeated Spotlight searches... Weird eh? :)
